"Men have a little more room for expression"

There’s little to cheer us up at this time of the year - Christmas is over, the weather is at near-Baltic temperatures and the office looms - however one thing we can all be grateful for is the upcoming racing season.

A day at the races is the perfect excuse to showcase your personal style at its finest. Although the area of racing style has been fraught with difficulties over the past few years - with female Royal Ascot-goers being banned from wearing fascinators in the royal enclosure due to strict new dress codes.

This is still one of the best places to see and be seen in, and an excuse to get dressed up when its not yet another wedding to attend. Plus - the controversy has centred around female clothing, so us men have a little more room for expression with our outfits!

The classic suit is a great option, but take time and invest a decent amount of money - to ensure that it fits you down to a tee.

A well-cut suit in a classic shade of black, navy or grey will stand the test of time and ensure that you look your absolute best. Plus there is nothing like a good suit to attract the ladies!

There are so many suits available on the high street (that is if you don’t want to go down the designer route) that you will be spoilt for choice.

A good option is a tailor-made piece for weddings or the races to perfectly fit your frame, personal style and budget.

To add a quirky touch of style, its worth exploring the world of bow ties, which have become more popular in recent years. Think Michael Sheen in the ultra-suave tv drama Masters of Sex for the cool bow tie look we’re thinking of.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for on the local high street, try every lazy man’s favourite option... online shopping. We recommend Mrs Bow Tie for some unique looks guaranteed to turn heads (in the right way of course).
