SIMPLE DAILY SKINCARE REGIME TIPS AND ADVICE FOR MEN

The Basics Male Skincare

Ask any woman you know and they will most likely have a morning and evening skincare regime that they stick to religiously. For men, it may not necessarily be the same. But why not?

We all have skin, we are all exposed to the same elements and we all sometimes need a bit of a pamper, no matter what our gender. Therefore, if you are not a regular cleanse and moisturise kinda guy then take note.

Now, I know that beauty for women is sometimes a bit overboard. Who needs 5 different types of cleanser depending on your current hormonal balance and a different eye cream for day and night? However for men, skincare is a lot simpler and easier to keep up with.

To start, a good facewash is essential. There is nothing better than washing your face after a long hard day at work or first thing in the morning to wake up your skin. A face wash removes dirt, sweat and dead skin cells to reveal a fresher layer ready to be moisturised.

The best face washes are not necessarily the most expensive ones too. You can pick up some amazing ones on the high street that won't dent your wallet. For combination to oily skin try Bioderma Sebium Purifying Cleansing Gel which can be used both morning and night for a gentle wash which won't irritate your skin.

Alternatively, you can pick up a cheap as chips face wash such as Nivea Deep Cleaning Face Wash along with your weekly shop. Word of warning: even if you have problem/spotty skin do not buy harsh cleansers specifically for spot-prone skin. These often make your skin worse as they strip your skin of its natural oils, causing it to produce more oil to make up for it and make the problem worse!

Secondly, the number one item on any mans skincare regime should be a great moisturiser. It will protect, energise, smooth and perfect your skin whilst keeping it moisturised all day long.

If you want to spend a bit of money on your skincare, a good moisturiser is where it should go. Whether you have dry/dehydrated skin or a oily/combination, there is a moisturiser to suit everyone.

Kiehls face care is exceptional and their Facial Fuel is the ultimate moisturiser for normal skin. Alternatively, a cheaper option is Weleda's Intensive Cream for dry or very dry skin.

Finally, the fun part - the pamper section. We all need a bit of TLC sometimes, men included! If your skin is feeling particularly dry or run-down and your complexion needs a bit of a boost, then you can't beat a good old face mask.

I know it certainly isn't the manliest of things to do, and you are not likely to discuss it with your mates, but a face mask can do wonders for your skin. The best face mask around that I have recently discovered (as has my boyfriend who uses it more than me...) is Glamglow Supermud

You can actually see the dirt coming out of your pores and it leaves your skin so smooth and refreshed... even fresh-faced Michael Buble is a fan! Alternatively, Elemis Post Shave Recovery Mask, is a deeper, more effective 10-minute remedy for the irritation caused by your daily shave. Or Clayspray Mattifying Red Clay Mask works wonders on oily skin. Each mask is an investment but trust me, your skin will thank you for it.

So there you have it, a round-up of your new daily skincare regime. Whether you just stick to the basics or want to experiment with all that's on offer, introducing a few new products to your face will be the best thing you've ever done.
