Top 5 Scandinavian Brands

Scandinavia has given birth to some great brands in the past such as Ikea, WESC and the great Absolut Vodka, but recently the rise in statement fashion trends coming from these parts is on the rise. This might be down to something they put in the water or something that’s started a cultural kick-start to the fashion industry over there, but nevertheless we’re here to look at the Top 5 Scandi brands on the rise right now.

Cheap Monday

If 90’s style streetwear is your look then Cheap Monday could complete your printed shirt look at an inexpensive price. Coming out of Stockholm Sweden in 2004 and making its way into ASOS and Urban Outfitters, the brand specialises in large bold prints and tight denim. Opening their flagship store called “Weekend” (Fun Fact: it was only ever open on the weekend) caused the brand to swell into the size it is now and over 10 years on they have 1800 stores worldwide and they’re still rising.

Low Down: If you’re looking for inexpensive printed pieces these are the guys for you.

Han Kjøbenhavn

Bright and cheerful, Han Kjøbenhavn are great for printed pieces from coats to shirts to socks. They also stock incredibly good looking accessories such as sunglasses which is what they originally started out selling. Founded in Denmark they have burst out of the glasses business into a fully-fledged retro-inspired clothing line. Using their Danish roots, all of their pieces are influenced by the Danish design virtues using strong lines creating an almost architectural look. Considering the brand has only just turned 6 years old, we’ve definitely got more to see from these guys in the future.

Low Down: Unbelievably attractive sunglasses are what these guys built their empire on, so buy into eyewear or Oxford style shirts.

Wood Wood

The brand Wood Wood is already huge internationally, making its way into ASOS over here in the UK, and it’s because of their realistic and no gimmick approach to the way they design. This is another Danish brand who deals in a way that could be seen as safe - making jumpers, coats and shirts the way any other company would but with the solidarity that makes it a great brand. Utilising timeless classics such as the pullover jumper and injecting their own modern twists makes this label one to look out for during your next wardrobe change.

Low Down: Looking for something to wear out on a Sunday to the pub or need a few jumpers in the winter months, have a look here.

H&M

Highstreet giant H&M was founded in Sweden and if you’ve already been into one of their stores you’ll see why they’ve ended up as big as they are. With a keen eye for low cost fashion their pieces are always in style and the variety means you won’t be stuck for choice. H&M regularly switches their collections seasonally for both men and women, they also cater for children. Whilst low in price, the quality is often compromised, but you’re sure to find something you'll like.

Low Down: Everything you could ever want from coats to socks. Promise!

MISMO

Danish brand MISMO is a Spanish name that produces a lot of its content in Turkey. Go figure. Besides their bizarre layout this Brand is headed by Husband and Wife Duo Adam and Rikke Bach. Predominantly designing bags primarily using leather or other fabrics, they also create accessories. Whilst the price may be high the quality and style is unbelievably good. Their designs are very indicative of army apparel and a lot of grounded colours feature in their pieces, so they'll team well with formalwear pieces especially.

Low Down: Great looking bags and tablet cases, if leather or holdall bags are your style and you’ve got the budget, check these guys out.
