5 Kickstarter Campaigns Worth Buying Into

Whilst we’ve been putting together our very own Kickstarter campaign (keep an eye out over the coming weeks), we’ve spotted a few very interesting and inspirational brands that are using the power or crowdfunding to help bring their imaginations to life and make their dreams become a reality. Here’s a few that we believe are well worth investing in.

w.r.yuma 3D Printed Sunglasses

W.R.Yuma turn plastic waste into quality sunglasses. By 2050 there will be more plastic in our oceans than fish if we continue to waste our plastic at the current rate. This brand wants to inspire people to take another look at waste. Discover this unique collection of sunglasses made from freshly recycled car dashboards, soda bottles and fridges, 3D printed and assembled by hand. Their mission is to kickstart a future where waste is a concept of the past.

Vanguards Magazine Issue 02

Vanguards is a biannual magazine that celebrates and investigates thoughtful and honest brands and their high-quality products. The first community they’re focused on is Scotland; celebrating the country’s rich history and tradition of design and manufacturing, whilst also developing a voice that advocates sustainable and ethical manufacturing and consumption. From sustainable salmon farms to the oldest waterproof jacket and from traditional Shetland knitwear to contemporary gin distilling, they explore the people and communities behind brands and products. They're asking for your support to help get issue 02 off our screens and into print.

Freitag Zippelin

Freitag invents the first one-of-a-kind intercontinental bag that’s spacious when you need it, and compact when you don’t. The flash of inspiration it took to transform a limp old piece of truck tarp into a stable, large-format travel bag that, even when only half-full, wouldn't exceed the free baggage limit imposed by the world's airlines. Freitag's product developers and prototype cutters have come up with this unusual but compelling bag. It isn't based on some bulky frame-like container or semi-finished shell, but actually comes from the brand’s favourite means of transport. Hidden away inside the Zippelin is a common-or-garden bicycle inner tube you can inflate with a standard pump and, thanks to the zip, replace quickly and simply.
