5 Ways Men Can Keep Wrinkles at Bay

It's not just the ladies who might be conscious of the occasional extra wrinkle they have spotted when scrutinising themselves in the mirror. We men can worry about skin creases, too - especially when we see such age-defying male stars as Pharrell and Keanu Reeves. Both men, believe it or not, are practically middle-aged, but look closer to twenty-something. Whatever their secrets, they might just include the following wrinkle-busting pointers...

Protect your skin from the sun's UV rays

Even something as simple as taking your dog for an occasional walk outside can wreak havoc on your skin - at least over a long period. Yes, that bright, yellow thing we call the sun has a lot to answer for - but, at the same time, you can't live life like Dracula by constantly avoiding the sun. What you can do is shield your skin by applying sunscreen of at least SPF 30 before leaving the house, and wearing sunglasses that guard against UV rays, as Healthline advocates.

Add retinol to your routine grooming products

Naturally, it would be a good sign if you diligently keep on top of your skincare regime. However, if you currently tend to settle for standard cleaning, exfoliating and moisturising products, you might have to step up your efforts by being fussier about what you use. For example, even your moisturiser can come with SPF, while you should also spend some money on retinol, a topical variety of vitamin A that can prevent, slow and even reverse signs of ageing.

Drink more water while consuming less sugar

Little things can add up to a surprisingly big difference when you are trying to delay the onset of wrinkles. For example, take a close look at your diet. Does it currently largely consist of sugary foods? If so, try to cut down on the sugar, as it can accelerate skin ageing. Meanwhile, remember to keep replenishing yourself with water to prevent dehydration from setting in. It's certainly helpful that hydrated skin is less prone to loosening over time, as GQ explains.

Try to minimise crease-causing habits

You might have various habits that, as time passes, are causing long-lasting wrinkles in your skin without you even realising it. For example, do you regularly squish your face into your pillow or rest your chin, cheeks or forehand in your hands? If so, stop! Other unhelpful habits would include rubbing your eyes or squinting or furrowing your brow. When bedtime arrives, sleep on your back, as this can assist in inhibiting creasing.

Treat yourself to anti-wrinkle injections

Even if you have heard of anti-wrinkle injections, you could remain none the wiser as to how they work. Here's the deal: they relax your facial muscles and so prevent your facial skin from creasing. In the long term, this can leave your face looking softer, smoother and more wrinkle-free. Of course, there's a lot more to say about this treatment than this, but you can educate yourself when researching clinics offering anti-wrinkle injections in London.
