ClubQP: The Brand New Event for Watch Enthusiasts

Love watches? ClubQP is the new event concept from the team behind QP magazine and SalonQP appearing for two days this November in the luxurious surroundings of Ten Trinity Square, London. QP magazine is the UK's No.1 luxury watch magazine which is published four times a year, carrying the finest journalism on the subject of watches and watch culture.

Join the editors of QP and a stellar line-up of guest speakers for a VIP champagne reception evening on Wednesday 27th November followed by a full day showcasing over 20 watch brands on Thursday 28th November.

For a limited time, they are giving MenswearStyle subscribers the opportunity to enjoy an exclusive 50% discount off tickets to their VIP party, giving you access to the event and all the talks the following day. At the VIP reception we will be joined by none other than Mme Evelyne Genta for an exclusive and unprecedented retrospective into the life, work and legacy of her husband Gerald Genta. Together with expert historians and collectors, this will be an unparalleled opportunity to hear more about the creative genius that created the Royal Oak, Nautilus and dozens of other influential designs, as well as providing a rare insight into his processes, inspirations and dealings with the major players of the Swiss watch industry.

Programme

27th November, 8.00pm: Gerald Genta: A Legacy of Design

Join Evelyne Genta, author Alex Barter and collector Shari Rahman for an evening dedicated to the life, works and legacy of Gerald Genta. Eight years after his death and four decades after he transformed the luxury watch world with his Royal Oak and Nautilus, Gerald Genta’s star has never been higher. We will hear why his landmark designs are so often imitated but never bettered, alongside tales of what it was really like doing business in the watch industry in the Sixties, Seventies and Eighties, as well as what the future holds for the Genta name.

28th November, 12:30pm: Watches around the world: Walking the Yangtze with Ash Dykes

Explorer and adventurer Ash Dykes made global headlines this year for his 4,000 mile solo trek along the length of China’s river Yangtze, the world’s third longest. Travelling from the Tibetan plateau to Shanghai over nearly a year, Dykes faced numerous hazards and hardships along the epic journey. Through his long-standing partnership with Ball Watches, we are pleased to have the opportunity to hear first-hand how the spirit of adventure is alive and well in the present day.

2.00pm: A good vintage? Assessing the market in 2019

As the vintage watch world shows no sign of slowing down, we are joined by a panel of highly experienced collectors, dealers and auctioneers to talk about the trends, high points and surprises of the past twelve months, culminating in November’s high profile auctions. And we will ask whether there is still value to be found in a market that seems harder and harder to approach from the outside, and increasingly bound up with ‘hero’ pieces.

6.00pm: The future watch

From nanotechnology to bluetooth, today even the most traditional watchmakers are exploring how cutting-edge science and 21st century materials can be incorporated into mechanical watchmaking in a way that preserves our passion for mechanical engineering. Hosted by Tim Barber, we will hear from Roger W Smith OBE, Benoit Mintiens of Ressence and Stephane Gunten, director of research and innovation at Ulysse Nardin on their very different yet equally innovative approaches to watchmaking.

8.00pm: The Speedmaster: a celebration

2019 has been a landmark year for the Omega Speedmaster, as we marked 50 years since its historic use on Apollo 11. In honour of this most celebrated of chronographs we are inviting Speedmaster enthusiasts everywhere to join us for an informal discussion on the everlasting appeal of the Speedy. It will be an excellent opportunity for collectors to get together to swap stories and show off their prized watches. With journalist Robert-Jan Broer, Omega vintage specialist Daniel Somlo and MoonWatch Only author Gregoire Rossier.

Tickets now on sale at hearstlive.co.uk/clubqp. Use code MENSWEARVIP to redeem your 50% discount (Valid until 17th November).
