Discover Gents of London Barbershop London

Located in between a row of Georgian and Victorian traditional independent shop fronts, Gents of London has been situated at 33 Amwell Street in Angel Islington since 2013. Steeped in heritage, the barbershop has a traditional interior inspired by London history e.g. sixties and British subcultures. All artwork, photography, literature and ornaments in the barbershop have a story to tell and were donated by friends and visitors over the years. In recent years, the street was voted one of the ten best streets to live near, and there’s often filming taking place nearby due to the well-preserved architecture and public squares.

Gents of London pride themselves on giving a haircut that represents how you wish to be portrayed; whether classic or contemporary. All barber services, starting from £32 for a wash, haircut and style, include a complimentary Lavazza espresso and concludes with an optional open blade neck shave. Greg, a friendly northerner is a principal member of the Gents of London team and their longest serving barber to date. He looked after me when I visited and his passion for what he does shines through clearly. He is highly skilled and has a well deserved loyal client base as a result.

“When you find out that this barber shop is located on a quiet residential street, 10 mins walk from the nearest tube station, and there’s another 4 hair establishments on the same road, you’d immediately wonder why they’re so popular. But credit where credit is due, Gents of London is on a beautiful London street and it truly is a traditional barbershop that is superbly decorated and equipped with an expert friendly barbering team. The subtle nods to subculture via books on the window ledge, to vespa pictures on the walls is also a neat and unique idea. I soon found out that they also offer mod haircuts and they’ve proven to be very popular. Greg was my barber when I visited, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. He recommended a slightly higher fade than my usual and it looks better, which my wife was quick to confirm. He also did a great job in taking weight out of my extremely thick hair, spending time with great scissor work, which isn’t something my usual barber does.” – Craig Landale, Founder of MenswearStyle

Whilst having a good nosy around this unique barbershop you’ll quickly notice they also have their own Gents of London hair styling products starting from £6.99. With help from the barbering team, and regular testing on their loyal clients, it has taken founder Pete Donoghue a few years to perfect their highly regarded men’s hair styling product range. Each styling product, from sea salt spray to styling wax, is created using cutting-edge barbershop industry knowledge and current men’s hair trends. The full range is suitable for classic or contemporary hair styling and can also be found at Amazon.

“The plan was always to avoid sweet smells and bright coloured formulation. We wanted to design a range tailored towards our barbershop clientele (men aged 19-45 primarily). Guys that appreciate quality ingredients, ethical UK manufacturing and understated packaging. Vitally, we listened to feedback from our clients and had lots of conversations in the barbershop about what it is that makes a great styling product. This process was invaluable for agreeing on the final products before production and could only have worked in a London barbershop talking to our style-conscious clientele.” – Pete Donoghue, Founder of Gents of London
