DISCOVER IFFLEY ROAD
MINIMAL AND HIGHLY TECHNICAL RUNNING WEAR
Athletics and aesthetics shouldn’t be mutually exclusive. So says Iffley Road, a new British running wear company who produce highly technical running wear with a pared back, minimalist look.
The brand was founded by lifelong runners Bill Byrne and Claire Kent who struggled to find kit they really wanted to run in. The name comes from the Iffley Road track in Oxford where Roger Bannister ran the first sub four-minute mile on May 6th 1954.
Iffley Road’s winter collection includes a stunning long sleeved, half zip running top in 100% Italian merino.
Woven in the brand’s trademark pique finish they are also completely itch free. This makes for an extremely versatile garment which can be worn next to the skin or, in more extreme conditions, over a base layer.
“We pretty much live in these tops from autumn through to spring,” says Bill. Pair this with slate grey leggings and a merino beanie when the cold really kicks in. For the gym or warmer weather running Iffley Road produce t shirts in a bespoke version of drirelease.
This soft, highly wicking, high performance fabric looks and feels like cotton but performs better than most other technical fabrics. Tops are available as classic or half zip t-shirts. They currently come in a range of 6 muted colours inspired by the British elements, with a grey marl due for release before Christmas.
Iffley Road details are both stylish and practical based on the founders’ many years of running experience. The brand’s tri stripe ribbon for example is both a tribute to the original Amateur Athletics Association (AAA) colours and serves as a useful hang loop on all tops.
Pockets on tops and shorts are virtually invisible, yet can hold a car key, cash or credit card. So for performance sportswear, which you’d be happy wear all weekend, take a trip to Iffley Road.
