Next Launches Summer 2015 Menswear

Summer 2015 for Next menswear sees a continuation of the strong stories present in the spring season but evolving into light-weight summer cloths and colours. Tailoring has a 60’s retro influence; short suits in a fondant colour palette are worn with ditsy print ties, matching pocket squares and a straw trilby. Printed separates are jazzing up their formal collection too, from geo blazers to floral trousers and graphic print shorts, it’s not about playing it safe this summer! Casualwear juxtaposes their soft formal tones with bold, bright primary colours.

The focus is on prints with patterns ranging from conversational styles, Hawaiian florals and palms, through to artisan weaves and simple typography graphics. Be sure to team with bleached out denim, jute slip ons and a backwards cap to complete the ‘Cali Skater’ look. We caught up with David Neal the Tailoring Buyer at Next to find out more about the collection and what guys should be wearing this summer.

How can guys work tailoring into a summer look and how do they keep cool in the heat?

“The key to looking and staying cool in Summer comes down to fabric selection. Style one of our lightweight Cotton or Cotton/Linen Textural Weave Suits, featuring a soft Cotton Chambray Lining and natural Coroso Buttons, with a laundered cotton poplin button down shirt or Crew Pocket T, for a relaxed casual look. Complete the outfit by rolling up your trouser hem, or opt for a Tailored Short, and finish off with a pair of Loafers or Double Monk Strap Shoes, remembering to lose the socks!”

What are some of the key summer colours guys should opt for this year?

“This season’s colour palette takes reference from the sun bleached and salt washed hues of the seaside towns found along the English Riviera. Soft, washed back pastels in light blue, pale pink and Jade add a fresh highlight to the more wearable Navy and Light Stone options.”

What was the main inspiration behind the summer men's Next collection?

“The inspiration and focus for the Summer ’15 collection comes from the British Riviera as mentioned. The colour palette is influenced by the sun faded and salt washed houses and beach huts of these Seaside Towns. Lightweight structural Cottons and Delave look Cotton/Linen blends are key fabric choices, promoting breathability and comfort allowing you to look & stay cool. Whilst Seersucker Stripes, Prince of Wales Checks and Small Scale Prints add pattern interest.”
