Eye Pop at Pitti Uomo 88

A new wave of glasses and sunglasses makers is growing strong in Italy. For the third time this essential of style had its own space: Eye Pop is a special area produced in cooperation with MIDO, the key international trade event for eyewear. The main focus of this “project” is to explore the bonds between the world of glasses and fashion. Representing different countries, the brands selected to show expressed the perfect balance between their traditional design and a strong orientation to innovation.

Matching different languages and working on innovation, David Marc, OXYDO and Spektre Sunglasses are three Italian brands who brought vintage style to its boundaries.

David Marc centres its research on materials, OXYDO develops a limited edition collection in collaboration with upcoming artist from the international scene, while Spektre Sunglasses has the crazy, unconventional touch of eighties and the minimal soul of nowadays. Pugnale & Nyleve is a synthesis of Italian taste and technology: designing different lines of glasses and sunglasses. The brand found a way to celebrate the theatrical/dramatic need of richness which is part of the old ‘Made in Italy’ school combining it to new approaches of production. Despite its young age, the eyewear label seems to have its roots in the XVIII Century and its head in the XXIII.

Moving from Eye Pop to the Lyceum, Delirious eyewear exposed its hand-made in Italy sunglasses - the lenses are in CR-39, the frame is in hypoallergenic natural resin developed from cotton fibres and the case in wood. Details are in leather, which is a trend also seen in other brands, and each piece reports the date in which it was finished.
