Aquascutum Autumn/Winter 2015 Campaign

Founded in 1851, Aquascutum’s heritage is rooted in the excellence of British tailoring and to this day delivers a stylish and luxurious elegance. Not always realised, the words "Aqua Scutum" in Latin translate to "Water Shield". Tailor and founder of the brand John Emary was the person responsible for pioneering the first waterproof wool fabric, then used from 1914 to make the functional trench coats for officers in the First World War.

The new AW15 campaign is shot by acclaimed British fashion photographer Tim Walker, who regularly shoots for Vogue, LOVE and W Magazine. It's not the first time Tim has shot the campaign for Iconic British heritage brand Aquascutum - most people remember the iconic ‘kissing’ image he shot in 2009, with model couples wearing brightly coloured trench coats. For the Autumn/Winter 2015 season, the brief was to create something iconic and modern with a little humour behind it.

He has captured six young models in the outdoors wearing iconic looks from the collection under an atmospheric cloudy sky. In a bold visual statement for the brand, the club check is featured prominently, on scarves, ties, umbrellas and bags. A limited edition club check cape (only 16 are being made globally) and bags as well as the brand’s classic trench coat. There is an element of eccentricity to every photograph, where Tim plays with perspective and positioning. Inspiration was drawn from taking a look at the vast archive of imagery from the brand, including illustrations, old photographs and even a picture of Morecambe and Wise wrapped up in the brand’s iconic club check scarves.
