TRENDS FROM THE US YOU NEED TO KNOW
THIS YEAR TRENDS SWEEP BACK TO VINTAGE AMERICA
With the change in season comes the change in our wardrobes, from winter to spring. Usually the spring-summer collections bring out pops of colours and wacky prints. This year the styles to sweep the US are a lot more subtle and revert back to vintage America with suburban shirts and jackets in subtle shades. If you’re going to be travelling or jetting off on holiday to America this summer don’t forget to pack these hot trends and your ESTA visa.
Back to The 50s
The styles that were popular in 1950s America are making an appearance in the form of Cuban collared shirts. The Cuban collar shirt is the epitome of the 50s gentlemen, being an item full of old-school charm and class. The Cuban collar shirt is the perfect item for spring as they come in all colours and various prints, if you really want to be sent back to the 1950s think classic Hawaiian, retro bowling styles or the soft rose quartz colour. This short sleeved shirt is the perfect way to keep and look cool during summer.
Go Green and Grey
This season green is a key trend in menswear, this stems from US military references which is set to be a big trend this year too. Burberry showcased bottle green suits while Richard James offered a bright green blazer and trousers with a tropical print prefect for your holiday vacation. Pops of green in fashion has been around for a few seasons now, but this season it is set to be even bigger. Although the season has showcased head-to-toe outfits of the same shade of green, beginners should clash different shades. If you want an even more docile look, try a bold statement piece in green and team with shades of grey. Like green, grey is going to be a big colour in menswear this season. Fortunately grey is a prominent colour already taking residence in most wardrobes. To truly be on trend this season be sure to create a look with different shades and textures of grey and green.
As well as green and grey being big this season, so are military trends. If you’re a gentleman who isn’t keen on carrying a bag around with them this spring, this is your season, as pockets are making a comeback. Pockets will be found on tapered chinos, shirts and most importantly the field jacket. Another military inspired jacket, the bomber has previously dictated many seasons but this spring it will be about the field jacket. The field jacket is perfect for spring especially if there is still a bit of chill in the air. Wrap up in hues of olive green, shades of grey or stone if you’re feeling traditional.
For spring and summer 2016 there are no colour distinctions between the men’s and women’s collections. The subtle colour of spring are being led by the most talked about colour of the year, rose quartz, followed shortly by shades of green and grey. Although the thought of pink may scare some men aware, it can be a really easy colour to wear - just remembers to keep it simple. Instead of a full rose quartz suit think about a rose quartz jumper or Cuban collar shirt and team with light grey fitted jeans or chinos. If you’re still unsure on the colour look for clothing that has a mix of white and rose quartz in - breaking up the pink a little.
