The Ultimate Gents Weekend with Lynx

This month we are pleased to announce that MenswearStyle and Lynx are teaming up for the ultimate weekend experience in Edinburgh. We can't disclose the full itinerary just yet, but it’s set to be a wild mix of activities that are likely to get the blood racing and maybe even take us out of our comfort zone. But how do you prepare?

Luckily, for MenswearStyle and Lynx, this falls right in to my wheel house. Edinburgh; they take sterling, drive on the same side of the road, tip 10% and also do terrible Connery impressions. For this sophisticated adventure into the unknown I'll be packing relatively light. One pair of trainers, one pair of brogues, clean shirts, shades - anything beyond that will be surplus to requirements I feel. Much like the evolution of the lad’s weekend, my toiletries have also moved with the times and is a lot more regimented these days.

I'm going urban for this one; anti-perspirant - Urban Advanced Protection, fine fragrance spray pump - Lynx Tobacco and Amber (Which sounds like an unlikely buddy cop movie from the seventies. Tom Selleck plays Tobacco, a maverick cop who works best alone. Amber is a rescue dog that tears up his apartment and impinges his bachelor lifestyle. Wait, is that Turner and Hooch?. I'll be leaving the hair styling products at home, but if you're looking to complete the Urban set then check out the Urban messy look paste and the Urban matt gel.

I recommend setting up a WhatsApp group a week before the big day. If there are strangers amongst the group, this is a good way to get an idea on each others' sense of humour and afterwards you can all share the photos from the trip. In a way, social media has made the boys weekends a lot of fun. Hash-tagging the weekend can allow others to follow your movements, although perhaps some things are best left untold.

Everyone brings something different to the party, even if you consider yourself an outsider, quiet and introspective, and handle yourself better in small groups rather than a mosh pit filled with Stella-fuelled alpha males. MenswearStyle will hopefully bring a slice of edginess and culture to the weekend, whilst being able to embrace whatever else is thrown at us. What's encouraging is that the wife has already given these scents the thumbs up, so it looks like I'll be getting a nice Lynx goody bag for Xmas also. Stay tuned for a match report when we return from Edinburgh.
