Non-Invasive Ways to Improve Your Physical Appearance

When we talk about plastic surgery, people tend to immediately think about the procedures that many women engage with, such as breast augmentation, Brazilian butt lifts, and lip fillers. But believe it or not, increasing numbers of men are starting to engage with plastic surgery too. Increasing numbers of men are now opting for blepharoplasty (otherwise known as eyelid rejuvenation) and lower rhytidectomy (or necklifts). Other common procedures include gynecomastia surgery (male breast reduction), liposuction, rhinoplasty (nose jobs), mentoplasty (chin augmentation), facial fillers and botox. Huge numbers of men also opt for hair transplants when their hairline recedes, their hair begins to thin, or they begin to bald. Sure, it’s great that there is now less stigma surrounding men and cosmetic surgery, but it’s important to remember that while these procedures may make major changes to the shape and structure of your body, there are also things that you can do to improve your physical appearance in other ways that are a whole lot less invasive. If this interests you, here are a few ideas to consider.

Quit Smoking

While we are all well aware that smoking can have devastating effects on our health and wellbeing, a lot of people tend to ignore the secondary effects that this habit can have on their physical appearance. If the threat of inner diseases isn’t enough to deter you from picking up a cigarette, perhaps the fact that they can leave you feeling haggard and worse for wear might be enough to push you to stop. The nicotine within cigarettes can stain your teeth, leaving them yellow rather than pearly white and even causing dark brown staining in areas over longer periods of time. The same nicotine also stains your fingers yellow. That’s before we mention the increase in the size and darkness of bags under your eyes, increased wrinkling, dulling of skin and hair, and the yellowing of the whites of your eyes. Now, smoking can be a tricky habit to quit. The very substance that causes most of these problems is highly addictive. But there are alternatives out there that can help you to work your way off cigarettes altogether. Vaping is just one. This gives you something to use in a similar way that you would use a cigarette, but instead of smoke, you will simply be inhaling water vapour. Learn more about this at https://www.vapeshop.co.uk/.

Stay Hydrated

We are well aware that we should drink around eight glasses of water a day. But many of us choose to ignore this advice. Around 60% of the adult human body is water, so it’s absolutely essential that you keep these levels topped up, as dehydration can wreak havoc with your physical appearance. Perhaps one of the areas that it has the most visible effect is your face: the part of you that is exposed at all times. In particular, dehydration has a huge negative impact on our skin. Your complexion is likely to become dry, tight and flaky. This could result in further problems for those with particularly sensitive skin, as it can become inflamed and provoke conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, and transepidermal water loss. So, make sure to get those eight glasses a day. This may seem like a lot, but it’s achievable if you just remember to use water as your base drink: switch any cups of tea, coffee, fizzy drinks or juices for pure water. Keep these alternatives as special treats every now and then rather than allowing them to form part of your daily routine. If possible, invest in a reusable, stainless steel bottle. This will keep your water pure without contributing to the waste plastic that is destroying our oceans and other natural habitats. You could also use moisturiser to actively moisturise your skin. Consider vitamin A and vitamin E creams in particular, as these increase your skin’s water content. Try to apply them twice a day. Simply wash your face, pat it dry, then rub the moisturiser into your face and allow it to soak in naturally.

These are just two different non-invasive ways to improve your physical appearance. They may seem basic, but the number of people who neglect them prove that they need to be emphasised regularly. The fact that they are basic also means that they’re easy to incorporate into your regime, so there’s no excuse to give them a miss. Get started as soon as possible!
