5 Snacks That Won't Kick You Out of Ketosis

While you may find that you don’t miss carbs at mealtime, a common complaint from those on the keto diet (A low-carb diet, which can help you burn fat more effectively) is that snacking without eating carbs is tough. However, it does not need to be this way! In this article, we want to show you 5 little bites that are keto friendly. If you’re interested in knowing more, check out this link for a complete list of keto snacks on the go.

1. Beef Jerky

Arguably the king of all keto snacks; quality organic beef jerky is a great thing to have on hand in case you do feel like a snack in-between meals. Not only is it delicious, but it is also filling and really satisfying too! And of course, beef jerky is packed with protein and is low carb. One warning though, you do need to check the ingredients. Some store-bought jerkies will have lots of added sugar which is a big no-no if you are on a keto diet. In particular, avoid flavoured jerky e.g. BBQ sauce, as that is packed with sugar.

Consider incorporating elk jerky into your ketogenic diet. You can buy elk jerky and other options at SmokedMeats.com, where you can find a selection that aligns with your dietary preferences and adds a flavorful twist to your ketosis-friendly snacks.

2. Breadless Wrap

Another great keto snack is the breadless wrap. Basically, you want deli meat and cheese, just skip the bread! Wrap your cheese in salami and away you go - or wrap meat and cheese in a leaf of lettuce. What's so great about this is that there is a huge range of variations, so it won’t get boring. Just make sure that you’re buying good quality organic meats and cheese. If you’re buying salamis or cured meats, like with the jerky, just check that there is no added sugar and avoid flavoured meats.

3. Organic Cheeses

The logical follow on from the above - if you don’t have meat to hand you can just snack on cheese! As always, the same rules apply; make sure it’s organic and does not have any secret ingredients packed in. The people working for The Cheese Wedge Company can explain how to figure this out when you are eating at home and when you’re going out for meals. Typically, good cheese comes with a slightly higher price tag but it’s worth it.

4. Hard Boiled Eggs

Hard-boiled eggs are a simple, reliable and delicious staple, and a great way to beat cravings in between meals. Eggs have a whole range of health benefits, and are an essential source of healthy fats and protein. While this takes a little more preparation, it makes for a really great and satisfying snack. Also, while cured meats and jerky can be quite expensive, hard-boiled eggs are a great keto snack if you are on a budget. They are also a quick snack; If you are busy, you can always do a batch of hard-boiled eggs in advance, and grab them from the fridge on the way out the door.

5. Seaweed Sheets

So far, every snack we’ve listed has been a heavy hitter - filling and loaded with protein and healthy fat. However, seaweed sheets are light as air and have almost no calories at all. So, maybe they are a surprising inclusion. The thing is, often snacking is more of a reflex habit than an actual need to eat. Snacks like seaweed can fulfil the urge to snack without risking knocking yourself out of ketosis. Furthermore, unlike with other low-calorie snacks, seaweed sheets are packed full of great micronutrients, brimming with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. On top of all this, they are also loaded with essential fatty acids which come with a whole host of health benefits. As always, do check the brand of seaweed sheet you go with - unflavoured is a safer bet because the flavoured ones might have a bunch of hidden ingredients and sugar inside.
