Affording the Ferrari 488 Pista Spider

2019 has been a bumper year for cars already, and it only looks set to get better. With supercars in the wings by everyone from Porsche to Mercedes, the chances are that you get green around the gills just thinking about it. And, ever since you laid eyes on the upcoming Ferrari 488 Pista Spider, you haven’t been able to get it out of your mind. That’s not any surprise when you consider that this 211 mph convertible dream can go from 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds. As if that weren’t enough, it comes complete with a 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. And, it looks about as badass as its name suggests. The compromise is that it also has a £275,000 price tag. That’s not a sum most of us can dig up anytime soon. Does this mean, then, that the new Ferrari is forever out of your reach? Do you have to make do with a car which doesn’t fulfil your dreams anymore? Perhaps not. There are plenty of ways to cut the costs of a choice like this. Keep reading to find out what they are.

Trade the car you’ve got

Your Ferrari owning dreams are sure to land at your feet if you trade your current car. This is the best way to afford an expensive new release like this. That’s because a dealer will then reduce the value of your current car off your bill. You just have to hope that your current vehicle knocks enough off to make this worthwhile (handy if you drive a sportscar rather than a hatchback). On the plus side, even 10k off the price is going to take you down to a cool £267,000. Doesn’t that sound a whole lot better?

Look to small dealers

If you head straight to the Ferrari website, there’s no way you’re going to bag a bargain. You can expect to pay full whack for sure. The same rules apply if you head to Ferrari dealerships or well-known garage names. What you might not realise is that smaller garages often do the best deals. That’s because they need to undercut the big guns. In the lead up to the release date, then, do your research about smaller dealerships which are liable to stock this dream car. Bear in mind that, if you bag a real bargain, it may be too good to be true. Always check that a dealership has the right credentials and motor trade car insurance to its name. Then, sit back and wait until your dreams come true.

Wait a while

This last point may come as a blow, but it’s worth keeping in mind. Even the iconic Ferrari is not exempt from car depreciation. Within as little as a year, you may find that you can pick up a Pista Spider for a fraction of the price you would pay now. This is especially likely when you consider the other fantastic releases we can expect to see this year. Before you know, the Pista will be old news and in its new place on your drive.
