How to Wear Designer on a Budget

Designer clothes have that fashion-forward edge that most high street brands simply can’t replicate. High quality and dependable, these pieces tend to be timeless yet consistently trendy, which is why so many people are keen to introduce them to their wardrobe. While most of us would love to have a collection made up entirely of designer pieces, this isn’t feasible for the average person. Being on a budget doesn’t mean missing out on high-end clothing or accessories altogether but changing up how you approach buying them. Here are just a few ways you can incorporate designer pieces into your wardrobe while sticking to your budget.

Second-hand Clothing

Before you turn your nose up at buying second-hand, remember that designer items have most likely been very well cared for due to their original price. This means you’ll often get the same high quality for a much lower rate, with many of the items barely being worn. You can search through charity shops, explore eBay, raid Depop or head to a dedicated second-hand supplier. There are many reasons to buy second-hand besides the price, including the ability to find stylish vintage pieces and support local charity shops.

Finance

Some things are worth paying out for, but that doesn’t mean throwing away your savings. Items that last a lifetime, such as a luxurious watch, merit the money as they aren’t a one-time thing. Rather, you can show off a good timepiece for many years after the original purchase. Instead of paying for it in a lump sum, look into financing luxury watches to pay off the purchase in a way that is convenient for you. By financing a designer item, you don’t have to worry about spending a large amount of money in one go but rather pay off smaller chunks on a monthly basis.

Classic pieces

As mentioned above, some things are worth splashing out on. Rather than buying pieces you’ll only wear once, opt for some classic choices that you can wear in a manner of styles. A leather jacket, a classy overcoat or a smart blazer are all worth the money as they can be worn on a variety of occasions. You can pair it with equally as classy but cheaper pieces, upgrading your current wardrobe without having to restock it completely.

Renting

As tempting as it may be to buy a new designer outfit for every occasion, think about how often you’ll wear it outside of that event. You can save a ton of money by renting out clothes for a day rather than buying them outright if you know you’ll only really wear it a couple of times. You can look fashionable for your event without burning a hole in your pocket, plus you don’t have to worry about being seen in the same outfit again. Adding a designer item to your wardrobe is not only a great confidence booster, but it’ll also ensure you get a high-quality piece that lasts for years to come. Whether you decide to rent a piece for a one-off occasion or pay it off with finance, that item will soon become a fashion favourite of yours.
