Topman Personal Shopper Suite

Topman Oxford Circus have recently under gone a refurb on their Personal Shopper suite. I popped into store and met with Daniel Rhone – one of Topman’s personal shoppers and had a chat with him about what they get up to.

The suite is young, fresh, vibrant and edgy yet welcoming. The orange sofas and brick effect walls give a Shoreditch meets Brooklyn vibe, complete with a record player, flat screen TV and an array of fashionable books and magazines.

With individual dressing rooms intact with mirrors and rails to display outfits. There’s also a VIP suite which can cater for any client or for groups to have their own personal space.

Having come from a styling background myself it was really interesting to see how the service works for them, the idea is to give men a boost in how they dress, to make them look and feel good.

The types of clientele they get within Topman can range from top stylists to your average guy who doesn’t have an idea on how to maintain a good wardrobe. The personal shoppers and assistants are all well trained and have a good eye for style as well as being able to keep on-trend.

Express – 30 minute Fashion Fix. Designed for those who know what they want and items will be handpicked in advance for an in-out shopping spree.

Edit – 1 hour Style Update. You’ll be talked through the latest trends and how to incorporate this into your current wardrobe.

Experience – 2 hour Wardrobe Overhaul. A complete wardrobe refresh with a in-depth consultation to understand your style needs to create key looks for you to take home.

Daniel Rhone is a Personal Shopper based within the suite and has over 10 years of experience in styling. As a friend of mine I got to chat with him following the opening of the new suite.

What do you like most when it comes to being a Personal Shopper at Topman?

"I love being able to share my passion about menswear with my clients on a daily basis. It’s an absolute pleasure when I have a client who really appreciates the advice or outfits that I’ve suggested through the appointment."

Do you feel the renovation of the suite will attract more customers?

"I think it will most definitely. Having this amazing personal shopping suite at our disposal adds even more to the fantastic complementary service we offer already."

What has been your favourite client to have worked with?

"I think there has been too many to mention. I love the diverse nature of clients we have in at Topman. I work with guys from their teens to their late 50s and 60s. I also have clients who haven’t got the first clue about men’s fashion to clients who know their stuff and simply want my opinion."

Can offer a bit of advice for anyone considering coming in for the service for the first time?

"My advice would be don’t be wary. I always want some sort of input from my clients because at the end of the day, they need to be comfortable in what they're wearing. We have a great team of shoppers who are very approachable and an amazing environment where you can feel totally at ease. The personal shopping service is complementary and there is no obligation to spend though we do ask that you ideally have an idea what you want i.e. a new suit for work or a summer wardrobe update. If you have any questions please feel free to email our booking team at [email protected]

What do you recommend for this season’s top trends?

"My recommendation is to try and add a bit of colour into your summer wardrobe. Whether you take inspiration from the floral print trend or the bold primary colours that were on show at Burberry. For tailoring I’m a big advocate of the separates look where you pair different colour trousers to your suit jacket. You can work with lighter or darker tones or a completely different colour as long as it’s complementing."

Daniel’s Topman top picks this season

Topman Hawaiian tropical print shirt - The tropical print is a big trend this season across menswear. This Hawaiian print shirt is a must-have this summer for it's pure versatility. Wear it with a bleached denim jean, with shorts and even with a sharp fitted suit.

Topman light green stretch skinny chino - Having a summer trouser that you can dress down and up is an essential for every man this season. Even though these chinos are a skinny fit, the stretch in the fabric allows for comfort and required shape. The light green is a perfect base colour to build your outfit around whether you're getting dressed up or not.

Noose & Monkey double breasted jacket - Noose & Monkey are a new brand which is available online and at the Oxford Circus Store. The brands ethos is based around modern contemporary tailoring with an edge and this double breasted jacket in a pindot navy fabric, certainly fits that bill.

Topman premium 'Brompton' Oxford shoe - This Oxford lace up comes from Topman's premium shoe range and with it's sleek profile and high shine leather it's the perfect dress shoe to have for work or a formal occasion. It's rubber sole provides a practical feature if wearing on a regular basis.

Topman navy barrel canvas bag - Topman's navy canvas bag is the perfect size whether you're going to a festival, on holiday or even to the gym. Also with it's nautical blue and white colour-way you can keep in scheme with your summer ensemble.

Topman mid wash denim short - Go for a pair of denim shorts this summer in the form of these cool mid wash with slight rip for an extra edge. The mid wash denim allows you to be a bit more expressive with your colour on your top half, so embrace the prints and florals guys!
