Menswear Made to Move

Men today are no strangers to performance clothing in the gym, on the trail - wherever they sweat. But why does that performance stop when a guy changes for work, a day in the city, or a night on the town? It’s time we stop choosing between performance and fashion, and start asking for more.

With a line of clothes that brings together technology, research-based design, and innovative materials to anticipate and react to the body’s needs throughout the day, Ministry of Supply keeps the modern man looking great while meeting the demands of his active lifestyle.

The brainchild of MIT grads, Ministry of Supply was launched in 2012 to solve the problem of discomfort associated with traditional menswear by way of performance technology.

The brand’s flagship dress shirt, the Apollo - boasting moisture-wicking and movement-minded capabilities - rocked the Kickstarter community, setting the record at the time for fashion-category funding at $429,276.

The odor-absorbing Atlas dress sock was soon to follow, raising an equally staggering sum. The Apollo and Atlas have since given way to a full menswear line of slacks, t-shirts, dress shirts, and more - all engineered to make your life easier.

Fall/Winter 2014 is Ministry of Supply’s most exciting season yet, with five major product launches in totally new categories. The Aviator jacket marks the brands first foray into the outerwear category - and certainly didn’t disappoint.

CEO Gihan Amarasiriwardena explains, “Your clothes should act as tools: elegant, simple and, above of all, multi-purpose. We love versatile staples, and designed the Aviator jacket to be exactly that.” Styled like a classic casual blazer, the garment is water repellent, odor absorbent, and engineered to stretch in all directions. Simply put, you’ll never want to take it off.

This season also sees the release of the ultra-soft Mercury, Ministry of Supply’s first-ever sweater. Knowing that Merino wool is an inherent performance fiber - it controls odor, ensures warmth, and wicks moisture – the brand blended it with Phase Change Material, a NASA invention that regulates body temperature. Knit robotically to include seamless ventilation patterns, the Mercury is the ultimate smart sweater, engineered to keep you comfortable in any climate.
