Introducing ARHTO Menswear

This month we welcome a new menswear brand to the website, ARHTO. MenswearStyle were kindly invited to the exclusive launch of their debut collection, at the beginning of this month, just behind Oxford Circus (on 83 Mortimer Street) where the label set up a pop-up shop in a minimal and stylish location that perfectly reflected the essence of their designs. Their ‘Drop 1’ comprises of 9 key pieces of clothing and accessories.

Although the collection may be considered small, it consists of timeless silhouettes and each piece has the aim of becoming a ‘classic staple’ in your everyday wardrobe. Created by professional and personal partners, Timur Karamolla and Sarah Hawkins, they have used their experience of working in film and branding to produce a contemporary collection that avoids following any specific trend. With the industry under threat from the world of fast fashion, their aim is to focus on offering men’s clothing that is versatile and made to last.

Browsing through the collection at the launch, it is clear this has been a passion project for Tim and Sarah. The wheels were put into motion about 18 months ago, after Tim decided to leave the film industry, and although creativity in fashion has been passed down through the family tree, this is very much their own journey and one that is just getting started. Taking a closer look, although simple and understated in design, a lot of detail and thought has been put into the collection; from the high quality materials used to the subtle, brand-identifying, bright orange ‘link’ carefully sewn onto each item.

Manufactured in Turkey, all the garments are handmade which makes each piece slightly different from one another. Tim informed me of the complications they faced with the production process, mostly due to his high standards and determination to achieve exactly what he was looking for. His hardwork and hustling has paid off, proven in their double thickness T-shirts. Weighing at 11.05oz, this is not your usual 100% cotton tee and is their own modern take on the timeless classic. The fabric has been specifically developed for the brand and makes it extremely comfortable to wear. An added feature is the oversized, bonded, patch pocket which creates a seamless finish. This seamless detail is also seen on the kangaroo pouch pocket of the skater-inspired Bound Hood; a hooded super-soft sweatshirt that is relaxed in fit and looks great over a pair of dark denim jeans or their own cotton drop crotch Aroe trousers.

Other stand-out pieces include the Zeph Overshirt, made from midweight fine soft twill that features a gunmetal central zip, two front pockets with their orange ‘link’. This piece is perfect for layering up over a T-shirt and offers a modern take on a worker’s jacket. The Dual Smock and Touché Jacket are alternative outerwear items. Every piece is produced in anthracite navy (which alternates in the light from washed black to blue), including the military style cap and functional everyday Cache Bag.

There is much more to come from this menswear brand and ARHTO is certainly a name to keep an eye out for. If you are someone who maintains a capsule wardrobe inspired by street and workwear, with classic shapes that can be worn over and over again, head over to their website and check out this first drop. The whole collection is available to buy now and ranges from £75 to £280. The quality of the fabrics and fit of the clothing won’t disappoint.
