Introducing Belstaff Spring/Summer 2019

If you’re looking for a British brand that’s full to the brim with rich history and storied heritage then you can’t really go wrong with Belstaff. Born out of a need for more functional clothing tough enough to combat the trials and tribulations associated with motorcycle racing in some of the most adverse weather conditions, the brand has spent almost 100 years mastering their weatherproofing craft and rugged durability. Outfitting everyone from soldiers and pilots to pioneering explorers and champion racers alike, the brand pursued an insatiable desire for practical garments, creating timeless silhouettes such as the Trialmaster and Fieldmaster and showcasing the best in breathable waterproof fabrics, serviceable utility and unrestrictive resilience.

Fast forward to modern day and Belstaff is as synonymous with British motorcycling culture as fish is with chips, epitomising the cool, rugged edge and rough thrill-seeking nature that comes with it. Combining their staunch sensibilities with new silhouettes for the modern man, the brand’s latest offering sees waxed cottons and hardy beaverteens swapped out in place of more contemporary insulated fillings and lightweight shells perfect for layering during trans-seasonal months

Brand new for Spring/Summer 2019 the Belstaff Bantham jacket keeps the brand’s signature utility in mind. Boasting 6 pockets to the front, a concealed waterproof hood and internal jacket sling for if things begin to heat up, it’s an essential piece of kit for the everyday urban explorer. Featuring both elasticated cuffs and waist adjusters for a tailored fit it comes made out of a sleek nylon fabric that’s capable of being worked into multi-faceted looks with ease.

Applying traditional characteristics to an updated design approach, two stand out pieces from the collection are the Belstaff down filled gilet and Rainworth jacket. In true pragmatic style, both garments are made from a high-density water-repellant nylon and packed with high power warming capabilities without being over cumbersome, perfect for bolstering out this season's thinner jackets and providing some customisable levels of temperature regulation.

It's not just jackets that Belstaff excels at and as always there's plenty of high-quality base layers on offer for you to structure your outfits around such as the tried and tested steadway shirt. A true seasonal staple of the Belstaff lineup it showcases the brand’s eye for purposeful design and their ability to execute simplicity to the highest degree. Made from a soft cotton it features additional shoulder stitching for a reinforced shape as well as a back pleat for ease of movement. To the front, Belstaff’s signature slanted pocket rounds off the piece with some unique but subtle detailing.

From humble beginnings bathed in the mud of the racetrack to presenting runway shows and outfitting some of the most esteemed celebrities, Belstaff has rightly earned themselves a place amongst the creme de la creme of British fashion. Purveying an adaptive approach to production and a forward-thinking functional flair they continue to push the envelope with what's possible when it comes to objective driven clothing with plenty of hard-wearing style.
