Menswear Style x Ralph Lauren Spring/Summer 2019

The new Polo Ralph Lauren spring/summer 2019 collection was the focus of this special collaboration with MenswearStyle. The release is primarily inspired by the coastal Long Island town of Montauk, where Ralph Lauren and his family have spent summers in their property for decades. The vibrant pastel colours throughout are striking yet perfect for life on the beach. They have a laidback appeal that compliments coastal life, especially for surfers and beach party goers.

For the first look that we styled, we picked out the Sportsman Chambray Shirt which features a bold print at the back that's inspired by the "Polo Sportsman" graphics from the early '90s. The print on the back showing a vintage fishing scene is a great symbol for the setting we chose for the photoshoot; Bunbeg beach in North West Donegal in Ireland with its iconic shipwreck dubbed Bád Eddie. The fishing boat was stranded during a storm in the 1970s. This was teamed with Relaxed Fit Distressed Trousers in Army Olive that carry a perfect laidback Japanese oversized silhouette. They’re distressed and feature subtle repairs made from Oxford and seersucker.

For the next look we put the spotlight on the Cotton-Blend Graphic Hoodie in Bayside Green. It's a bright pastel which, although a standout shade, works so effortlessly at the beach. This fleece hoodie combines a sun-faded shade inspired by the beach culture of Montauk with a bold throwback logo. We teamed this with a pair of Relaxed Fit Graphic Chinos in an oversized casual shape in desert khaki colourway, featuring Signature collegiate-inspired sketches and graffiti set to draw intrigue without being too over the top.
