Yorkshire’s TOG24 Doing Outdoor Gear Right

As a Yorkshire man myself, I was very happy to learn that TOG24, the high-street outdoor clothing brand, is a family-run, Yorkshire-based company. For over sixty years, they’ve been designing clothing that combines style, quality and functionality from the very heart of the Spen Valley, an area rich in textile heritage.

Every product gets a full Yorkshire testing with the brand’s three whippets, Frank, Arthur and Teddy (plus labrador Henry), joining in on the long walks. And if their kit doesn’t stand up to an extreme dog walk on the Yorkshire Moors, then something is wrong.

TOG24 stands for “Truth Over Glory Everyday”. Not the ‘glory’ of planting flags on mountains or skiing down sheer ice walls, but the ‘true’ outdoors that everybody can enjoy; walking with friends to the pub or skiing with the family to a bar. The brand prides itself in doing things ‘proper’ and this Dight Men’s Waterproof Parka from its winter collection is proof of that.

Designed in TOG24’s signature cotton-look waterproof fabric and in colours inspired by the Yorkshire skies at sunset, this traditional men’s parka is a cosy winter coat that keeps you dry and warm no matter what. The shaped hood adjusts with inbuilt toggles and a touch-close fastener to pull it back on warmer days. In true parka style it has large flap pockets, big enough to hold an e-reader, but in a modern twist they also have a special handwarmer pocket on top with cosy fabric inside. There are also two secure zip-up pockets at the chest.

For ease of movement it has a vent at the back and the long chunky front zip opens at both top and bottom to give you more room when you need it. Inside is padded and quilted in a contemporary wave-pattern design that feels luxuriously cushioned and warm, and it carries the iconic TOG24 Yorkshire Rose badge on the sleeve.
