Introducing Fera: Apparel for the Adventurer

A bubbling stream. The smell of campfire smoke. Leaves and twigs crunching under your feet. The vibrant colours of an early sunrise. The further we stray from nature, the more we feel its pull. There is a longing for adventure inside all of us, a desire to return to the wild and disconnect from the hectic fast-paced world around us. But what do you wear? Much of modern outdoor “fashion” today revolves around highly technical pieces. Made in flashy neon colours with more pockets than you know what to do with, these pieces make us feel more of an intruder to nature than actually a part of it. What happened to the classic looks worn by the likes of Sir Ernest Shackleton? British outdoor brand Fera brings a solution, taking the rugged outdoor gear of the past and reviving it with a contemporary edge. The result is a clothing collection that is stylish, reliable and made to last.

Sidney Hiscox and Declan Morrison are lifelong outdoorsmen. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, and travel and adventures were put to a stop, they started designing clothes and kit that they would want to wear when they could get to go back outside. In October 2021, Fera was officially launched. Fera is not just for seasoned mountaineers or machete-wielding explorers. It is for anyone who seeks their own wild, whatever that may mean to them. For some it is travelling to the remotest corners of the word, and for others it is finding hidden pockets of nature in their city. Both ends of the spectrum, and everything in between, are to be celebrated.

Those who enjoy outdoor places also have a responsibility to protect them, which is a fundamental belief of Fera. They use 100% plastic free, compostable or recyclable packaging and pledge 5% of annual sales to conservation charities, causes, and projects that are working to save our wild places. All products are thoughtfully designed and released in small batches. Fera actively rejects the fast fashion business model and instead creates products that become your life long companions. With a timeless style and rugged durability that only gets better with use, their gear is built to be passed on from one generation to the next.

The Core Collection

Every outdoorsman is looking for products that he can depend on in the toughest of conditions. Modern, lightweight, quick dry fabrics are great for well laid trails but rips and holes are guaranteed as soon as you push through branches, crawl through a cave or carry some wood back to the campfire. That’s why Fera’s Core Collection was designed to last, sourcing the highest quality fabrics, materials and makers the United Kingdom has to offer. Your next weekend essential will be the Heavy Twill Overshirt, part of Fera’s Core Collection. Its pleated back allows for increased movement and the adjustable cuffs make it easy to roll up your sleeves when it’s time to get your hands dirty. Made from heavyweight sanded twill cotton, this overshirt can be paired with a simple t-shirt for those cool spring mornings and evenings. When temperatures start to drop, throw on the versatile Hapwarm Fleece to layer up for a snowy weekend away or brisk morning walk. Using Thermolite technology, the jacket features a secondary internal fleece lining, high storm collar and ribbed cuffs and hem to increase thermal retention and protect you against the cold.

Top it off with the classic Fera Cap, perfect for any adventure, big or small. The six panel cap is made with a pre-washed midweight cotton twill, giving it a well-travelled look. Designed with an unstructured crown, it’s perfect for fitting into your pocket or packing into your bag, all while keeping its shape. Before you leave, reach for the Ranger Bag to use on your day hike or journey from basecamp. Featuring ultra-dry British Millerain Tekwax cotton twill, ultra-secure Loxx fasteners, and a double layered floor for extra protection, every detail has been perfectly considered. Whether it’s for your camera, foraging kit, fishing gear, or anything else you need on your next adventure, this bag does it all. The Ranger Bag is the pinnacle of Fera’s philosophy, ready for a lifetime of use before being passed to the next generation to do it all over again.

And if that wasn’t enough, wait until you see what they are dropping next. We can’t disclose too much - but you can expect to see some Fera T-shirts, canvas Gilets, and Shorts roaming around town (or hidden deep in a forest) this summer. Don’t miss out, follow @FeraGB on instagram for updates.
