Parka London Made in England AW18

The story of this brand begins with the opening of a London Spitalfields factory on Commercial Road, by a tailor’s son known as Alfie Lever in the 1950s. Parka London is established from a family history of parka production most notably in the 1950s for the RAF, the British Army, and the Mods of the 1960s. The development and growth of the brand is underpinned by the family values of quality craftsmanship, an eye for detail and an instinct for outerwear that people want to wear. Today, this distinguished DNA is applied to reinvent the parka to become an essential modern and luxury wardrobe staple that is relevant and will never date.

With a heritage steeped in British tradition, this season Parka London is introducing a Made in England collection; a trio of coats that celebrates British manufacturing and design reminiscent of their East London roots. The three coats which make up the trio are: The Peacoat, The Bridge Coat and The London Mac - all designed to be seamlessly styled with a vast number of menswear looks, from casual jeans and polos to formal wool trousers and button-down shirts. Beautiful quality Italian wool and cotton twill has been used throughout the range and each style has proudly been made right here in an East London factory. So, let’s take a closer look at these new coats in detail:

The Bridge Coat

The classic gentlemen’s Bridge Coat in black wool is the essential city winter season overcoat. It is Made in England and cut with a double-breasted button closure, with pockets at the hips and chest; this signature outerwear piece is a premium design to finish off any assemble, whether casual or smart, to help you battle the harsh elements.

The Peacoat

The Made in England peacoat has been crafted from hard wearing wool which is nicely soft to the touch, offering style and much needed warmth in equal measure. With all the classic features of the iconic and much celebrated peacoat, including the essential double-breasted design; this is a perfect option for both casual cords and a crew neck or formal two-piece Tweed suit looks; a timeless classic that will never lose its worldwide appeal.

The London Mac

An effortlessly stylish and simple overcoat crafted from soft cotton twill, the London Mac works with everything from smart on trend check suits and chunky fair isle knitwear to classic chinos in autumnal colourways. As one of Parka London’s new Made in England styles, this is a classic outerwear piece you’ll go to time and time again, year after year, and it won’t let you down.

Mainline Collection

The Parka London AW18 collection offers a nostalgic nod to the history of Parka while embracing the modern lifestyle of today’s man. Reinvented silhouettes, bold military inspired colours and modern functionality form the backbone of this contemporary wardrobe. Utilitarian style and military silhouettes are paired with functional design features to protect from the elements. The garments can easily be worn without fuss and are crafted from a mix of high quality and resilient fabrics including traditional cotton twills through to modern technical blends. Colourful borg and plush leopard print faux fur complete the range for an on trend look and feel. The collection’s unapologetic autumnal and wintry colour palette channels the beauty and character of the British rural and urban landscapes.

Parka London have redefined military functionality, playfully working in multiple external and internal pockets. They’ve added distinctive reversible cagoule parkas, luxurious detachable faux fur trims, and lightweight bombers to feature as layering pieces which can easily be teamed with the Made in England trio above. For the first time, they’ve introduced real down filling to their collection offering superior warmth and comfort. Alongside down, PrimaLoft insulation - a performance material made from synthetic microfiber thermal insulation, first developed for the United States Army in the 1980s – has been used in many of the outerwear pieces.
