IN CONVERSATION WITH CHRIS GREGORY OF ENDURE
There’s no doubt that there’s a major movement happening in men’s skincare as men are becoming more aware of their skin health and what they can do to keep their skin looking younger, happier, and healthier. Understanding what products to use and why can be confusing enough but combining that with a multitude of new brands emerging just for men, it’s difficult to know where to start. Chris Gregory, ex-Commonwealth & England athlete, nutritionist, and founder of ENDURE, set out to provide the answer and formulate the ultimate, everyday skincare routine, with a scientific approach.
To 'Endure' means ‘to last’, and the brand wants to create a lasting satisfactory routine for lasting results that men can rely on, for enjoyment, their skin health, and desired results. A very real and personal experience travelling and competing all over the world as an international athlete inspired the creation. Chris’ level of exposure to changing warm and cold weather environments throughout his competitive career without consistent protection and recovery, showed on his skin.
Ever notice your skin is more oily or greasy during warmer weather, or more humid conditions? Ever notice your skin gets drier during the cold and cooler months? That's because scientifically our skin responds and is very sensitive to temperature. Heat makes the pores open and in turn they secrete sebum (oil) onto the surface. When cold, dry air and lower humidity draws moisture away from the skin, pigmentation and redness is more likely to occur with such exposure. With a focus on natural ingredients and formulas that would provide strong anti-aging and balancing properties for youthful and rejuvenated skin, the brand has created a routine that’s truly for every man.
Up to 70% of cosmetic products in the market are ‘white labelled’. This means that brands don’t necessarily make or create their own formulas, and chances are, those brands have purchased the rights to use a formula that already exists somewhere else. ENDURE have created their own unique formulas from the ground up using the latest science and a broad spectrum of superior natural ingredients which include: Arabian Cotton, Quora Noni, Ectoin, Bakuchiol, Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid, Allantoin, Bisabolol, Kalpariane, Recoverine, Rosemary, and Green Tea.
The ENDURE mission is to spread awareness on the importance of skin health and benefits of a good skincare routine (including daily use of UVA/UVB filters and SPF). However, founded by a nutritionist, the brand emphasises the importance of lifestyle and nutrition and its impact on our skin. Taking care of your skin from the inside as well as the outside, will see it only provide great results. Take their Skin Health Assessment to find out more, and in the meantime, you can pre-order and reserve these products ahead of launch at a one-time only offer of 35% off via KickStarter.
“I was full time athlete playing volleyball for England for the best part of 10 years, which was an incredible experience. After the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in Australia in 2018 I slowly started to come away from the sport and start to think about what was next. Three years later, here we are. There are a lot of factors behind the inspiration and concept of the brand, but it's largely stemmed from personal experience. Over the time that I had competing and travelled the world playing beach volleyball, there was a lot of exposure to the sun. I also came back to the UK during the winter, for the offseason, which meant we trained in quite cold conditions as well. Once I stopped playing, I realised that I had quite badly damaged skin. The sun will accelerate ageing and break down elastin and collagen in the lower layers of your skin. I started to think about taking better care of my skin going forward but I felt there wasn't a lot out there. I was looking for good quality products that were completely natural, and for men. So that was a big part of the inspiration behind my brand. At ENDURE we've got warm weather creams for both daytime and for night, so there's protection, nourishment, and recovery. And then we also have creams for the cold weather, so there's a consistent all year round use available. The exciting thing for the formulas we have is that we've got a lot of natural ingredients that are just emerging, known as new era plant derived actives. There's a lot of them, and they're allocated to certain formulas based on their properties.”
