How to Develop Your Training Routine

Developing your own personalised training programme is a great way to achieve your health and fitness goals. If you’re not quite sure where to start, we’ve put together a list of the key steps to follow to create the perfect exercise routine. Plus, if you need some new gear from SHEIN to get started, you can take advantage of fantastic deals and discounts from BravoVoucher to save on all your online purchases.

Think about your goals

The best way to start is to consider if you have any specific fitness goals and assess how long it is likely to take you to achieve them, taking into account your current level of fitness. Maybe you want to lose a certain amount of weight, or you are working towards a specific sporting event like a marathon. Identifying this from the start means you can track your progress and get motivated.

Set a realistic schedule

Depending on your work and personal commitments, think about how you’re going to organise your training to fit into your schedule. It’s helpful to be specific about what activities you are going to do at a certain time on a certain day that nothing can get in the way of your workout. Try to find a balance between pushing yourself and being realistic about the time you have available, and give yourself rest days in between for your body to recover. If you are preparing for a particular event, for example a marathon, you could also consider training with a group of friends, for maximum motivation and team spirit.

Plan different workouts

Instead of sticking to the same regime each time you workout, which can often be boring, it’s helpful to mix up your workouts with different activities and you can choose your favourite ones to add to your schedule. You also need to plan time for stretching both before and after you exercise and remember that you should start off gradually and work your way up to the level that you need to achieve your goals. It may also be necessary to prepare any equipment or supplies you need for your workout in advance so you don’t waste time. Divide each workout to incorporate different exercises and activities so you won’t get bored and lose momentum.

Write it down

Once you’ve completed the first two steps, it’s important to put them in writing. This will help you to consolidate your goals and your schedule. It makes it more real and more of a commitment to yourself which will definitely help with motivation. It’s also a great way to track your progress, adding any notes each week and if necessary, you can adapt or change your schedule as you continue.

Don’t push yourself too hard

Being motivated about reaching your goals is definitely positive, but make sure you don’t beat yourself up about missing a day if you’re not feeling well or if something outside your control happens. Just try to get back to your planned routine when you’re ready. You can also think of a healthy way to reward yourself for sticking with your regime but don’t forget to take time out to rest and relax too.

There are lots of things to consider when putting together your fitness routine but these steps should help you get started and get that bit closer to your dreams. If you want to find out more information about certain aspects of health and fitness you can consult the NHS Guidelines online which explains the recommended time periods for different types of physical activities and lots of other useful tips and advice.
