DISCOVER JULY 2020’S COOLEST STUFF
THE MOST STYLISH PRODUCTS AND RELEASES THIS MONTH
Hello chaps, I know we are barely through the summer season but I’m already itching for Autumn’s arrival. It’s arguably the best season for menswear, don’t you think? That, and the fact that London heat is often too much to handle. As usual, this month I’ve kept my peepers open for the coolest wares and I’ve certainly not been disappointed. So, following on from my June roundup, I’ve compiled a list of my favourite products and releases for the month of July 2020 – enjoy.
Oliver Spencer AW20
The Oliver Spencer AW20 collection is inspired by the coming together of the traditional and the modern in America’s Midwest, with subtle inflections of Western style combined with modernist interpretations of shape, colour and texture. Whether a houndstooth suit in ecological wool or a checked shirt in organic cotton, AW20 is designed to reflect the richness of Midwestern culture and the clarity and form of the region’s modernist designers, notably Frank Lloyd Wright and Mies van der Rohe, both of whom blurred the boundaries between nature and the living space. The collection is heavily textural, with intricate weaves and fabric finishes helping each piece to blend together. The palette is vibrant and sophisticated; with caramel, cardamom, forest green and inky blue grounding pops of cream and tobacco for a warming, autumnal feel.
Tom Clinch Triple Set
British menswear brand Tom Clinch has launched its new ‘triple set’ offer - featuring the biggest innovation in boxers shorts for more than a 100 years. The ‘triple set’ offer gives customers a beautiful Oxford Cotton Shirt, a Laundry Bag and Tom Clinch’s unique take on the traditional boxer short – a revolutionary pair of boxers that include a specially designed inner pouch made from super soft t-shirt material to give men more support down below. All three items are made from the same Netherlands-made Oxford Cotton material and will be available for a one-off price of just £99. Since the original pair of boxer shorts was patented over a century ago, the design has gone essentially unchanged. That is until Nick Clinch, a Chichester based businessman in his mid-fifties, found he couldn’t source a quality pair of underwear that would allow him comfort as well as support - and so decided to make his own.
The Jabra Elite 45h
This month saw the launch of the Jabra Elite 45h, with a longer battery life and longer lasting ultra-fast charging capacity than initially planned. Jabra, the leader in personal sound and office solutions, announced the best-in-class on-ear wireless headphones at CES this year. The headphones have an even longer battery life of up to 50 hours on just one charge, and an ultra-fast charging capacity that means you can now get up to 10 hours of usage from just 15 minutes of charging. The Jabra Elite 45h is engineered to be the best headset in its price category, at under £100. Leveraging decades of hearing know-how and audio technology from sister company GN Hearing, producers of world-class hearing aids, Jabra has created MySound that elevates music experience to new levels. This feature can be accessed through the Sound+ companion app which allows users to take a hearing test which MySound optimises their music experience and calibrates the headphones to offer a truly customised audio setting suited to each individual hearing profile.
Meridian is a men’s grooming brand for down south. Meridian offers three products, The Spray, The Trimmer, and The Complete Package. Too often, men neglect basic hygiene due to lack of information and the taboo nature of discussing private parts. Meridian wanted to fight the taboo and help educate men through precision grade products for a man’s most prized possessions. Personal care products should not be treated any differently than your other hygiene products, all necessary and all an important part of a man’s grooming routine. The brand embodies almost a barbershop and apothecary aesthetic, it feels luxe while also utilitarian.
Woods_ Copenhagen Skincare
From cold fjords and deep forests to the smokestacks of buzzing metropolis and people on the go. woods_ copenhagen is raw nature and pure ingredients from natural sources high up north meeting busy urban life all over the world - to soothe, protect, nourish and keep skin in its natural element. In 2010, Martin Lyne and Jannick Lindberg founded what would later become one of the world’s most influential modelling agencies: Le Management. Responsible for the careers of international top models and icons, supporting them emotionally as well as professionally remains their most important task. And this includes guiding them to the best skincare routines to protect their skin against environmental pollution, constant heavy makeup, jetlag and long working hours. Privately, their twin girls suffer from extreme sensitive skin and allergies. They soon discovered that the beauty industry was a maze of confusing claims and ineffective products. Finding pure, organic and honest skincare turned out to be a difficult task and Martin quickly realised that the only way to truly know what a product contained was to create his own - with the help of Scandinavia’s leading dermatologists and skincare experts.
SPOKE Swim Shorts
SPOKE is a new kind of menswear brand focused on legs, and fit. There is little in this life worse than a poorly fitting pair of trousers - and 7 years ago, SPOKE set out to banish them forever. They cut their strides in over 400 sizes, custom finished to order for a flawless fit. Of course, only one of them fits you - so they built an online fit finder, with a machine learning algorithm, to find yours - and not a fitting room in sight. They’ve recently added premium denim, and range of Italian Summer shorts to their offering. Tailoring, meet swim shorts. True to form they’ve cut their Swims in over 90 sizes, for the best fit ever seen poolside. Fashioned from quick-dry Portuguese polyamide, they’ve trimmed them with a host of clever details - a chunky rubber-tipped drawstring, a snap closed back pocket, and a secure zip compartment at the hip for keycards and credit cards. They come in a range of 4 solid summery hues - from sensible Navy to Fresh Foam Blue, via a pop of Coral.
Moto 360 3rd Gen Smartwatch
This summer, you’ll no longer have to choose between stunning design and innovative tech. Part of the iconic Moto range, the Moto 360 3rd gen smartwatch ups the fashion game while offering upgraded performance and features. The Moto 360 is a unique combination in offering what you need for sports and fitness tracking but delivering on design that reflects high-end fashion watches. The Moto 360 is built to be worn for fashion and used for sport - it’s really for your overall wellbeing. The stunning stainless-steel curved case sits comfortably on your wrist and a rotating crown that mimics the haptic experience of a classic watch. The smartwatch is made for those who prioritise design and style. A masterpiece of detailing, it introduces three stunning finishes. Choose effortless street style with the phantom black or make a statement with the flirty rose gold. For a classic look, the steel grey evokes traditional luxury watches.
Urbanears Wireless Headphones
Sweden-based Urbanears have been a fashion-driven force since 2009 and their latest chapter centres around true wireless headphones - Urbanears Luma and Urbanears Alby - both named after locations in Stockholm. The “Always True” brand concept and new products manifest Urbanears' dedication to make listening a human, progressive and bold style-statement in tune with its brand values. Both headphone options embody the core values of a user-friendly, trend-focused, always-on audio experience, allowing the product to work with its user seamlessly around daily social interactions, passions and true style.
