How to Boost Self-Confidence

Confidence is without a doubt one of the most important tools to have in life. It can help you level up and reach success in ways you may have never thought possible; be it personally or professionally. For some it’s like second nature, but for others, not so much. Regardless of where you stand, confidence is something anyone can muster up. All that’s needed is a bit of effort and positivity to start to see a difference. With that being said, take note of these helpful tips on how to boost self-confidence.

Get Clear on Your Mindset

Become self-aware before anything -- getting laser focused on where you are now is the first step in the right direction. Understand where your fears lie, and more importantly where they come from to help you see exactly what thoughts need to be unpacked. It all starts by knowing where you are currently so you can know exactly what it takes to start building up your confidence levels.

Know This: You Are Capable

Self-doubt is something that affects all of us, but the goal is to not let it overpower you. There’s no one size fits all approach when it comes to confidence. Get clear on who you are and use what sets you apart as a leveraging tool. Think of a specific time when you used a quality that makes you unique to your advantage, now take that same feeling and use it as a firing off point whenever you’re in doubt.

Repeat Self Affirmations

Have some of your favourite positive self-affirmations armed and ready to use when necessary. You can always pull from your favourite motivational speaker or come up with a few of your own to top off your morning. These will be huge confidence boosters when you have a big presentation or a special dinner date and need to put yourself in a frame of mind to be your best self and achieve success.

Repeat, Repeat, Repeat

Remember that practice makes perfect. Consistently putting your confidence boosting framework into practice will eventually yield positive results. The more you put yourself out there, the more you’ll strengthen your mental wellbeing and become more confident.

Be Optimistic

Remember there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel. By having a positive outlook on life you’ll become more personable, likable and a pleasure to be around.

Don’t Confuse Confidence with Arrogance

It can be difficult to tell the difference between arrogance and confidence. Both are assertive and forthcoming. But one is good and the other really isn’t so good. Know the difference; confident people tend to be the life of the party. While arrogant people are obnoxious and typically think they’re better than most. Of course, it’s important to have standards, but be sure to maintain a level-headed mindset around others. Exuding confidence, NOT arrogance will set the tone for people liking you, while being cocky will lead them to withdraw from you.

Always Look Your Best

Make dressing your best and having a grooming routine a priority. Taking pride in the way you look is one of the quickest ways to feel amazing and exhibit confidence. Some of the most important things you can do to look your best include: develop a solid skincare routine, ensure your clothing fits you appropriately, and always keep your face, hair, nails and body clean and well kempt. These might sound like no-brainers, but you’d be surprised at the number of men who consistently fail at these grooming areas.
