Discover Jack Wolfskin Outdoor Clothing

I've spent the best part of my morning tunneling my way through the multiple facets of Wolfskin’s product offering, via the John Lewis website. I've dug out a few treats that I feel are worthy of note and thrown a few items into the proverbial Christmas wish-list. Before I disclose my personal favourites though, firstly a little backstory for the uninitiated.

Founded in 1981, a brand that tailors products for the great outdoors. With over 900 retail outlets worldwide, 8 of those nestled here in the UK. Their products are designed to protect, keep you warm and dry, whilst being comfortable and reliable and lasting for many years.

"We are guided by our passion to develop exceptional products, and driven by new ideas. We are fully committed to functionality. Our products are designed to protect, keep you warm and dry, whilst being comfortable and reliable and lasting for many years." - Jack Wolfskin

With wearable technology being increasingly omnipresent these days, (just check out our latest podcast) the Shoreditch 3-in-1 caught my eye. Their promo video also woke me from a 6am slumber (without wanting to sound like old-man Brooker, I believe they call it dub-step). The jacket itself is an urban outdoor jacket with a down inner jacket that can be worn all year round.

The outer jacket is tailored from a waterproof TEXAPORE fabric with an understated herringbone structure. The extras include an ergonomic adjustable hood, a sleeve pocket (ideal for your train ticket) and a cable duct for your headphones. You can wear each jacket independently or combine them for full-spec protection in winter weather conditions.

"No detail is too small for us to improve upon. High tech, high quality product. Fleeces and jackets, ranging from £60-£280. Whatever the adventure, whatever the weather; from the mountains, to the coast, the countryside or your doorstep, Jack Wolfskin has everything you need to make you feel at home outdoors." - Jack Wolfskin

As a keen runner that loathes the cold, I also found their leisure wear very appealing. I'm not sure I can allow the sober half to buy me the Hollow Range Tights, purely because I don't like being emasculated or risk showing her my "yes! you bought me tights!" ecstatic face. They are made of an extremely light and stretchy functional fabric, designed for energetic winter activities to keep you warm even when damp, and wick moisture quickly away from the skin. The Passion Trail Texapore Running shoes also look a snap at just £70.

Lastly, the Gecko Fleece. It's one of their most popular pullovers made from light microfleece to give you plenty of warmth at minimal weight. The Gecko is famous for its versatility that works really well as part of your layering system, as an insulating layer with good wicking performance.
