Simple Anti-Aging Skincare Tips for Men

While some men tend to overlook skincare and find it complicated, it is still crucial to take care of your skin, especially after your 20s, when collagen production decreases. There are many factors that impact your skin, including genetics, age, environment, skin type, skincare routine, health and so much more. Here are some simple anti-aging skincare tips you can follow in order to give your skin a boost:

Wash your face AM/PM

Washing your face helps give your skin a reset. Especially at the end of the day, you want to remove the pollution, buildup and environmental factors on your face and set your skin up well to rejuvenate throughout the night. Some people find that using a gentle cleanser in the morning is right for them, and others find that a simple splash of cold water in the morning is better for them. It’s all about figuring out what is best for your skin.

Apply moisturizer twice a day

Moisturizer is a critical product to use for your skin, twice a day, every day. You want to use a good quality and rich moisturizer, like the BL+ new moisturizing cream from Blue Lagoon for example, to give your skin enough nourishment so it doesn’t overproduce oil or face a lot irritation. Some find it helpful to alternate between a heavier moisturizer at night and a lighter moisturizer during the day.

Apply an antioxidant serum

An antioxidant serum helps to fight free radicals and protect the skin. Damage caused by free radicals can boost signs of aging, such as wrinkles and dull skin so adding in an antioxidant serum can help protect and boost your skin. It can also help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and give your complexion an overall boost.

In the PM apply a retinoid

A retinoid is a powerful product you can use as part of your routine to boost your skin’s cell turnover, which helps to combat fine lines and boost collagen production. This can impact the appearance and texture of your skin, and reveal smoother skin underneath. While it is always important, it is particularly critical to consistently use sunscreen while using a retinoid. This is because retinoid causes increased sensitivity to the sun and it can provide more harm than good if not sunscreen is not used.

Exfoliate once a week

Exfoliating your skin reveals brighter skin underneath, as it buffs away dull and dead skin. While your skin naturally sheds skin cells, using an exfoliant gives this process an extra boost to unclog the skin and reveal fresh new skin cells.

These few steps can make a big difference in your skin health and appearance, and other little things like applying SPF every day in the morning (not just when using a retinoid) and following a healthy diet can have significant effects on your skin.
